Stricken by high fever at the age of 3, Chor Sang lost her sense of hearing. When she was 17, her father sent her to the Singapore Deaf and Dumb Art Institution where she met her husband. After her husband passed away early in their marriage, Chor Sang put her artistic skills to use by painting in order to earn an income to raise her three young children.

Now that her children are grown up, Chor Sang continues to paint for leisure and for charity. Her former classmate from the art institution introduced her to VSA in 1995 and she has been involved with their exhibitions ever since. In 2004, she also sold her paintings at the church of St Mary of the Angels to raise funds for the Singapore Catholic Deaf Community. Chor Sang is happy when people buy her paintings. She hopes that more people will appreciate paintings done by people with disabilities.
